Glasgow Caledonian University is a member of a number of Scottish Funding Council sponsored research collaborations with other higher education institutions in Scotland.Details of the activities within these collaborations include:

HealthQWest

HealthQWest is an innovative research consortium for the West of Scotland established in 2005 includes the research activity of, and research applicable to, the practice of Nursing, Midwifery and the Allied Health Professions (NMAHPs) - 15 professional groups.

HealthQWest has a federal structure comprising of the National Health Service (NHS) Scotland and five Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) [Glasgow Caledonian University (lead), and the Universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde, Stirling and The West of Scotland]. The HealthQWest Graduate School allows individuals to develop skills in research, research leadership and mentoring.

Glasgow Research Partnership in Engineering

The Glasgow Research Partnership in Engineering (GRPE) is a major programme of investment in collaborative research involving the Scottish Funding Council and the four universities in the West of Scotland.

The Glasgow Research Partnership in Engineering aims to build world class research capability under three Joint Research Institutes (JRI) and a Joint Graduate School, including:

  • Electronic, Communications and Power Systems
  • Environmental, Infrastructure and Transportation Engineering
  • Mechanics of Materials, Structures and Bioengineering
  • Joint GRPE Graduate School

Scottish Institute for Policing Research

The Scottish Institute for Policing Research is a  strategic collaboration between 13 of Scotland's universities and the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland, funded by the Scottish Funding Council, offering a range of opportunities for conducting relevant, applicable research to help the police meet the challenges of the 21st century and for achieving international excellence for policing research in Scotland.

Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research

The Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research (SCCJR) produces high quality research which is both scholarly and of relevance to the needs of those involved in the formulation, development and implementation of criminal justice policy. The SCCJR seeks to share its research findings widely and offers training, consultancy and policy advice. The SCCJR works in partnership with a range of stakeholders involved in crime and justice research, policy and practice.
