PhD Research Opportunities

We are currently reviewing our portfolio of student projects and will be publishing an updated list of self-funded opportunities towards the end of the summer. Below is a selection of projects previously reviewed and available to applicants.

Information on our key research areas and expertise within those areas can be found via the Institute for Applied Health Research pages. Applications received for projects outwith those advertised but that align with our key research areas will be considered.

How to Apply

To apply for a PhD project please complete the GCU Research Application Form .   Please send the completed application form, stating the project title and reference number, with a CV, copies of academic qualifications, references, and any other required documentation to: researchapplications@gcu.ac.uk.

If you require further information about a project, please refer to the staff contact in the project summary. Applicants shortlisted for a PhD will be contacted for an interview.

Entry Requirements & Tuition Fees

Entry requirements

  • Academic qualifications: UK honours degree 2:1 (or equivalent); or Masters degree in a subject relevant to your proposed research topic. Equivalent professional qualifications and any appropriate research experience may be considered.
  • English Language requirements: IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) with no element below 6.0. Please note: some research disciplines may require higher levels.
