Cultural Competence
Description
This course supports the internationalisation agenda through providing information and guidance on helping to create an environment that supports an international experience for all staff and students. Specifically, the course will give participants general knowledge and awareness of practical and cross cultural issues in relation to the impact of internationalisation.
Outcomes
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- recognise the diverse needs of students from different cultural backgrounds
- explore the way that differences in cultural norms and values can lead to different attitudes, behaviours and communication styles
- examine the impact of adapting to an unfamiliar culture
- identify support mechanisms within and outside the University

The open sessions advertised on this page are intended primarily for those of you who were not able to attend the workshops delivered within your own School/Dept, or for those of you in Schools/Depts where the roll-out of training has not yet been implemented.
