GCU Principal Pamela Gillies with David Beeby and Dr Bill Arens of Stony Brook
Glasgow Caledonian University has forged a new partnership to allow it to establish scientific, academic and student exchanges with Stony Brook University in New York.
GCU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Stony Brook in Long Island last month.
An internationally recognised research institution with more than 21,000 students, Stony Brook is rated in the top one per cent of all universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and appears in the top 100 USA public national universities.
Stony Brook also co-manages Brookhaven National Laboratory, joining Princeton, the University of Chicago, Stanford, and the University of California as the only major American institutions involved in a research collaboration with a national lab.
David Beeby, Vice Principal (International), said: “We are very impressed by Stony Brook’s renowned academic prowess, its practical technology applications, and, not least, its widening participation focus.
“Glasgow Caledonian University, welcomes a new partner in providing access with excellence.”
