Glasgow Caledonian University's MA Multimedia Journalism - launched September 2008 - is Central Scotland’s first postgraduate journalism masters programme designed to prepare every one of its students for a career in all journalistic media – print, radio, TV and online. It has already secured accreditation from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) and from the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC), and is the only postgraduate journalism course in central Scotland approved by both organisations. See "Why Choose This Course?" on main programme page for achievements of the first class, 2008-2009.
The Open Day will have the following format:
In the interview you will be asked why you want to be a journalist, what experience you have had in journalism (eg student, voluntary, freelance) and about any specialist journalistic ambitions you may have; about your awareness of current news issues and the news media (eg what papers you read, and why); and, crucially, from how you generally conduct yourself we will be hoping to spot some of the human qualities journalists need to have: such as curiosity, politeness, persistence.
All are welcome. You do not need to have completed an application form in advance in order to come along. But please inform the programme leader (e-mail address below) not less than 48 hours in advance with brief details about your interest and intentions if you do plan to attend.
