Comparing your experiences

Although university may be a bit different to other things you have experienced, it is important to be aware of some of the things which will stay the same or be similar to what you have been used to. This can help with the transition into a new environment as things can seem less overwhelming. Here are some ideas to get you started:

• Flexible timetable compared to. 9-5 classes or work
• Less structure
• Having to study for exams
• More coursework to submit – essays, reports, assignments
• Group work
• Different relationship with lecturers compared with teachers
• Self-motivation
