Borrowing netbook computers

Students and staff can borrow netbook computers for one week from The Base. (The loan period is shorter if the Base will be closed before the one week period ends.)

• Each netbook computer comes in a bag with a power adaptor cable in 2 parts.
• We can give you a cable with a lock if you want one.
• The Information Service Desk can help with technical problems.
• When the loan period ends, please return the netbook, bag and power adaptor cable to staff at The Base, not a self-return machine. We won't accept the netbook without the bag and the power cable.
• Loans can only be extended by taking the netbook to the Base. Borrowers cannot renew them online or by phone.
• Fines for late returns are 50p per hour or part of an hour, up to a limit of £11. Also, you won't be able to use library services, including renewing your books, until the fine is paid.
• If you don't return a netbook on time, you'll be banned from borrowing netbook computers for at least a week after you return it. A second ban will last for at least a month.
• When you borrow a netbook, you agree to pay the cost if you lose or damage it or the equipment that comes with it. You also agree to keep to the computer and network usage regulations.
• The replacement cost is usually £500 or more.
