... in the databases, why doesn't the link get me an article every
time?
This just checks whether we have access to the full
text of an article.
It takes you to a page which gives you ways to access
full-text or tells you that we don’t have it. It also tells you if
we have the journal in print and links to the catalogue.
Other databases may show , this will take you to the full text but sometimes some extra links should be followed. If there
are already full-text links next to an article – for example, in CINAHL or ScienceDirect – you are better
to take these rather than the TOUR link. For more information,
view our online demonstration.
Contact your librarian if
you have questions.
... I am a lecturer, how do I order library books for my
students?
Instructions and an online order form are on our
ordering books page.
...What do I do if there is a fire?
You will hear a klaxon to alert you. Do not use the main spiral stairs, use the special fire stairs which are at either side of the book floors. They will take you directly out of the building. Do not use the links to the Wood and Moore buildings on level 1 and 4. The doors at the front of the building on level 0 are fire doors. Watch out for fire wardens who will direct you to the nearest exit. They will be wearing either a red hat or flourescent waiscoat. The lift on the book floor (not the central stairwell) is a safe evacuation lift for people who cannot safely use the fire stairs.
If you have any other questions please ask at the base or use the Electronic Help Desk
