About Us
The Library is in the Saltire Centre. You can get information about our services in the links on the left and at the top of this page. Please always consider other library users!
There are self-service machines for issuing and returning books and other material on every level.
- Level 0. Group study. You can have small group discussions, read, use PCs, have hot food and drinks, use mobile phones, meet friends, and meet specialist advisers in the consulting rooms near the cafe. Technology for visually impaired students and a quiet space are also available here. You can ask questions at the Base.
- Level 1. Group study. You can have small group discussions, read, use poster printers, have hot food and drinks, use mobile phones, and meet friends. You can book spaces on this level. You can also meet librarians and other advisers for appointments and drop-ins in the Carnegie Suite.
- Level 2. Quiet discussion - don't use your mobile phone. You can read, study with a partner, use PCs and scanners, and drink bottled water. Don't consume hot food or drinks.
- Level 3. Very quiet study - don't use your mobile phone. You can read and study, use PCs and scanners, and drink bottled water. Don't consume hot food or drinks.
- Level 4. Very quiet study - don't use your mobile phone. You can read, study, and drink bottled water. Don't consume hot food or drinks.

Glasgow Caledonian University is an Eduroam site. Our classification is as a “Home and Visited” site. This means that visitors to GCU can authenticate their laptops through their own institution, as long as it is an Eduroam site. This will give the visitor Internet access. Conversely, any GCU staff member who visits another institution will be able to authenticate their laptop back to GCU from the ‘visited’ institution. Instructions are available on our Information Services web page.
The fire exits on levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 are at either side of the book floors in the alcove beside the lift on one side, and the disabled toilet on the other. Please use these if there is a fire - do not use the main spiral stairwell or the link corridors, they are not safe exits.
