An LDC tutor can offer individualised help with any aspect of your coursework. If you are seeking help with academic writing, bring a piece of work you've previously submitted, or a coursework that you are working on to discuss with the tutor at your appointment. The tutor will review your work with you and show you how it might be made more effective.
Please note that we do not offer a proofreading service.
You can book a face-to-face or online appointment by emailing: askLDC@gcu.ac.uk, or by calling 0141 273 1230.
Provide your contact details including your matriculation number by phone or by email and an LDC tutor will call you back.
Please contact us at least a week before your work is due to be submitted - there is often high demand for appointments and you may not get an appointment in time if you leave it to the last minute.
Group appointments are also available. These provide a useful opportunity for discussion where all the members of the group are working on a group project or the same coursework. For larger groups (4 or more students), students can also request a workshop - previous student requests for workshops include dissertation writing and developing critical analysis.
All appointments and drop-in sessions take place in M534, on the 5th Floor of the George Moore Building.
You can make up to one appointment per week, depending on tutor availability - the LDC team is small and availability may be restricted at times of the year when demand is high or when LDC staff are on holiday.
Appointments can be made up to a month in advance. For some students, one session is enough to address their concerns, while others work with an LDC tutor at regular intervals throughout their programme. Where a tutor and student work together over a series of appointments, tutors develop plans of action to encourage students to become confident, independent academic writers.
