Programme Description

The MSc European Midwifery is being developed by five universities and funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union. Glasgow Caledonian University, Charite-Universitatsmedizen Berlin, Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, Academie Verlokunde Maastricht and University College of Health Studies Ljubljana are partners in this exciting new venture.
This programme will be delivered jointly by the five institutions and students registered at any one of the institutions will be able to undertake modules both at their home institution and at any one of the partner institutions.

Why Choose This Programme

The programme will offer midwives the possibility of acquiring internationally accepted and accredited additional skills. This will qualify them for leadership positions in midwifery research, education and practice. This programme will offer midwives the possibility to strengthen personal and professional competencies and to take further study in such areas as clinical research, modern management methods and recent teaching and learning strategies.

Students within this pathway can select modules which are offered within Glasgow Caledonian and are deemed relevant to the award. Successful completion of eight single modules (or double module equivalents), including the Research Methods double module, is commensurate with the award of PgD Community Health.

Programme Structure

The programme consists of between 60 and 180 SQF points at least 50% of which must be at level 11, and a Research Dissertation that confers 60 points at SCQF level 11
