Christine Skinner is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the undergraduate BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry. Christine has been involved in the delivery of undergraduate and post graduate podiatry education for 40 years. Christine has a special interest in diabetes and its effects on the lower limb and foot and leads a number of Masters Modules on this subject as part of the MSc in Diabetes Management. Her clinical currency is maintained as an honorary senior lecturer in the multidisciplinary team at the Diabetic Foot Clinic, Centre for Diabetes and Metabolism, Southern General Hospital.

Her interest in education, research and Diabetic Foot Disease has allowed her to deliver programmes for the last 9 years at the Pan Arab Conference in Diabetes, Cairo. In 2004 Christine was appointed as a short term consultant in Diabetic Foot Disease by the World Health Organisation. Initially she was involved in delivering a training programme for nurses in this high risk area and she subsequently undertook a review of diabetic foot care management in Oman. This programme has subsequently been developed and 2009 and 2010 Christine was involved in the delivery of a diabetic foot management programme aimed at both physicians and surgeons from across Oman.

Christine was involved in the development and co-ordination of the delivery of a Programme in Rehabilitation Studies, Diabetic Foot Disease, in conjunction with The University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. In conjunction with a colleague from Glasgow Caledonian University Christine has delivered a 2 day training programme on Diabetic Foot Disease to 350 physicians from Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi. This programme was funded by a competitive, innovation grant provided by the Scottish Government, South Asia Development Fund. The programme was delivered in November 2010 and March 2011 in the three metro regions.
