We can provide access to unique, specialised instrumentation and equipment including UKAS accredited food testing and analysis labs, vision sciences equipment, and human performance labs for experimental work, skills development and analysis.

Research

GCU’s research in allied health is ranked top in Scotland and in the UK top 10. The School of Health and Life Sciences’ research in biomedical and vision sciences is internationally recognised. In the area of rehabilitative health sciences, which deals with the improvement of long-term health conditions such as arthritis and stroke, we are the top research unit in the UK.

GCU has a unique focus on non-pharmacological interventions for the treatment of dementia, stroke, arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders, and visual impairment.

The Institute for Applied Health Research brings together research excellence across GCU to consolidate our success in attracting major grants and develop collaborations with partners in the public and private sectors, within Scotland and internationally. The Institute for Applied Health Research works closely with our Institute for Society and Social Justice Research; Institute for Sustainable Engineering and Technology Research and the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health.
