For 2012 GCU will offer 6 bursaries as a means of financial help to students undertaking the MSc Social Enterprise. The aim is to provide assistance to students who would otherwise not undertake the programme on financial grounds.
In particular, we wish to support those students on low incomes, already working in the Third sector, often for smaller organisations that do not have a significant training budget. Priority will be given to social entrepreneurs whom are in the process of setting up a social enterprise or operating one and who have limited financial resources.
A total award of £1500 based on a £500 discount on fees for each stage of the MSc to a maximum of £1500. To receive the full amount students must successfully progress from Certificate to Diploma and from Diploma to Masters in three years.
Students who take a year out from study will not normally be eligible for discount on the following stage.
As a condition of accepting the bursary all recipients agree to the use of photographs and quotes in printed media and on University websites.
GCU awards are not additive. An applicant can only receive one level of support (scholarship or bursary) at any one time. If an applicant is eligible for 2 awards, only the larger award will be given.
Application to undertake the course must be made via the GCU Postgraduate Application form. Applications for the bursary should then be made in writing to the Programme Leader detailing how the criteria are met.

Evidence of earnings will normally be requested.
To allow students to plan ahead, bursaries will be granted on a first come first served basis in a three month period leading up to the start of the programme. Bursaries will only be grated once a student has received an unconditional offer to study on the course.
