Academic Study Support
Learning Development Centre
The primary aim of the Learning Development Centre is to enable students to reach their academic potential and to help improve the academic performance of all students, through support from the School’s Academic Development Tutors. The Academic Development Tutors, along with other staff members, play an important role for students prior to, and once established on, their programme.
Aims
- Improve the academic performance of all students;
- Assist students to adapt the unique demands of higher education;
- Ensure that all students are given the opportunity to maximize their learning experiences and so fulfil their academic potential
- Offer support for students all through their degree.
Provision of support for students
Students can make an appointment, or drop in, to see an Academic Development Tutor at the Learning Development Centre.
As part of a pro-active approach, all students who have failed modules are automatically contacted by the Learning Development Centre in order to discuss with them their learning strategy and to provide them with additional academic support. Many students take advantage of this opportunity to great success.
