The Grameen Caledonian Partnership
In line with its social mission to apply its knowledge and skills for the benefit of the communities it serves in Scotland and around the world, Glasgow Caledonian University is working with Nobel Peace Prize winner Professor Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Trust to set up the Grameen Caledonian Partnership.
The partnership will deliver various projects and benefits based on the university's teaching and research strengths. These include:
- Yunus Chair in Social Business and Health and Yunus Centre in Social Business and Health
- Appointing to the Yunus Chair in Social Business and Health
- Evaluating, through the Lab, the health related and social economic benefits of micro finance in Scotland and facilitating the setting up of a branch of the Grameen Bank in Scotland
- Using the university's expertise and experience as a developer of nursing, midwifery and community health education worldwide to work with Professor Yunus to develop a University College for Nursing and Midwifery in Bangladesh.
