What would prevent me from graduating?

University Debts

In line with the University’s Credit Control and Debt Management policy, if you are a debtor at the time your assessment board releases the results for your programme of study, your results will be withheld and you will not be able to graduate either in person or in absentia at this set of ceremonies or receive your certificate.  If you subsequently pay the debt and your results are released to you, your graduation registration will be carried forward to the next set of graduation and award ceremonies. Please contact the graduation and awards unit to ensure inclusion in the next set of ceremonies.

Registering for graduation and paying the graduation registration fee

If you have not registered to graduate and paid the graduation registration fee by Friday 4 May 2012, you can not graduate, either in person or in absentia, at the ceremonies.

Failing examinations/coursework/Repeat Semester

We withdraw you from the ceremony.  Your graduation registration fee will be carried over until you have an award.  If you don’t achieve your award in the current year, you will need to complete another registration form next year. If you have any questions on this, please email the graduation and awards unit or speak to a member of staff in the Graduation and Awards Unit.

Deferred decision

We withdraw you from the ceremony. We keep your graduation request and fee until the assessment board makes a final decision. If no decision is made in that year, you will need to complete another graduation registration form next year.

Transfer to Generic Award

We withdraw your name and award from the Graduation listings unless you contact us in writing, to confirm that you do not wish to take up this option, but graduate with an exit award – if you have one.
