The research student journey

During the PhD or Prof D Stage 2 programme, students are required to register their research programme of study with the School Research Progression and Awards Board (RPAB) and notify RPAB of other changes that affect registration during their research student journey.

The forms for the different stages in research student progression can be downloaded here. For further information and advice on the research student journey stages, please contact the relevant person or the Graduate School staff at graduateschool@gcu.ac.uk.

PhD student journey overview

The PhD Journey poster gives a summary of the key stages in the research degree programme including time frames and requirements at each stage. Alongside the progression milestones, Researcher Development is a fundamental aspect of the research student journey. Students and supervisory teams should discuss and plan for individual, personal and professional development from the start of the PhD journey and throughout, using the Personal Development Plan (PDP).
