Welcome to the Facilities Management Department Web site

The Facilities Management Department has responsibility for supporting the university management in the implementation of the university’s estates strategy. The estates strategy provides a framework for management decisions relating to all aspects of the university’s utilisation of its property and is an integral part of the strategic plan which aims to provide a campus environment consonant with the standing of the university as a major centre of higher education.

The current estate contains 105,000m² of buildings and 8.6 hectares of grounds, all of which requires to be maintained, refurbished, remodelled etc as required to meet the statutory requirements and quality standards desired by the university.

Facilities Management are also responsible for:

• Building maintenance
• Capital refurbishment projects, including accommodation planning
• Car park facilities - allocation and monitoring
• Central timetabling office and room bookings
• Cleaning of all the buildings and grounds
• Front of house reception services
• Furniture purchase and reuse
• Mail services on behalf of the university
• Receiving and movement of materials delivered
• Safety and security of persons and premises
• Student accommodation
• Transport services including the university fleet and vehicle hire
• Waste management and disposal
