Energy Saving - Events at GCU

Energy Awareness Day - 19th September 2006

It is estimated that over 1,000 students and staff passed through the exhibition during the day, taking advantage of the free coffee, energy efficiency lamps and wealth of information that was available enabling everyone to make their contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and saving energy and money at home and in the University.

Following the event Evelina McCafferty, Sustainable Energy Advisor (Outreach) Strathclyde & Central EEAC, The Wise Group, advised that:

"260 people filled out a pledge card to save energy and if they take action on what they pledged to do, the carbon emissions saved will be 5,850 tons. I thought the event was very good and well attended."
