Contact Lens Clinic

The Eye Clinic also provides a contact lens clinic open to all members of staff, students and members of the public. The clinic provides fitting and after-care services and can supply a wide range of lens types from extended (30 day) wear, to daily disposable plus cosmetic and specialist  lens types e.g. keratoconus. Appointments are available in either student clinics or with the staff optometrists. The G.C.U. staff and students 20% discount applies to contact lenses, providing the contact lens consultation is with the Eye Clinic (fee applies).

Special Needs Clinic

GCU Special Needs Vision Clinic: People with learning disabilities and other special needs are at particularly high risk for vision problems. Often this group of people also have limited ability to communicate their needs or participate in vision tests. In the Special Needs Vision Clinic, vision examinations are adapted to the individual to provide good vision care even for those with severe disabilities. This busy clinic prepares our final year Optometry students with the experience and specialist techniques that will make vision care accessible to all.

Infant Clinic

GCU Infant Vision Clinic: In the first year of life vision is vital. Up to 80% of early learning depends on vision. In the Infant Vision Clinic, the eyes are examined for refraction (focus), health and alignment and vision is evaluated using behavioural tests. Early testing of babies and pre-school children is a key to good vision care as difficulties are easiest to manage if detected early.

Where spectacles or contact lenses are required these can be provided from the Eye Clinic Dispensary at very competitive rates. The dispensary provides impartial expert advice on a wide variety of frames and lens types to suit the clinical needs and budgets of patients.

We can supply G.C.U. staff and students with a £20% discount on a wide range of frames and lenses. This also includes contact lenses provided they have their eye test and contact lens consultation (fee applies) at the Eye Clinic.
