Bus company, Stagecoach Scotland is committed to providing a “carbon neutral” transport service for its customers as part of an environmental strategy to help tackle climate change by reducing the carbon footprint of both the company and its customers. CEC provided support to verify carbon emissions and calculate average carbon emissions saved per Stagecoach journey on its Edinburgh-Fife routes. Using the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Greenhouse Gas emissions methodology, CEC calculated the emissions produced by the range of different bus types and destinations and included the information required for the company to undertake an offsetting agreement with the climate charity “Global Trees”.
