Carbon Management Planning has become a fundamental part of organisational response to Climate Change. Scotland has set ambitious targets for reducing carbon emissions and while much of these targets will be met with a shift in energy supply mix to renewable sources, organisations need to consider energy efficiency, transport, procurement, waste management and other measures which can contribute to carbon reduction.
While environmentalists have long argued that environmental improvements can bring about costs savings, this is particularly true in carbon reduction where inefficiencies in energy use represent a direct cost to the business.
The Centre has worked with several large public sector organisations and small private companies to develop a carbon reduction strategy. These so-called carbon management plans enable organisations to set realisitic reduction targets, understand where the big wins are, and link the climate change agenda to their core business planning.
