KTP's
- Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
Fyne Homes Ltd in Partnership with Remade Scotland.
Fyne Futures - a subsidiary company of Fyne Homes, (a registered
Social Landlord) - is an innovative organisation delivering a recycling
collection service on the Isle of Bute. Located in an award winning
purpose built building constructed almost entirely from reclaimed
and sustainably sourced materials, the company is seeking to promote
sustainability and to develop small scale manufacturing capability
to process recovered materials into high value products.
Fyne Futures objective with this project is to
move from grant aided operations to independent financial status
by developing additional income generating cost centres. The KTP
Programme developed with the Caledonian Environment Centre will
:-
1. evaluate the available technology and implement
a small scale oil reprocessing plant to convert waste cooking oil
into biodiesel.
2. develop and implement a programme to collect and process glass
into decorative aggregate and a sand alternative.
In addition to the direct economic benefits, the
development of markets for materials recovered on the island will
have a positive environmental impact and will support local jobs.
Incorporating these three key elements of sustainability, the project
will serve as a demonstration of commercial sustainable development
in practice.
