
Women have traditionally been underrepresented in the fields of Computing, Games Software Development and Engineering; according to the Engineering Council, women account for about 14% of engineering degree students.
There are many exciting career opportunities in the areas of Computing, Games Software Development and Engineering, and we are very proud of the achievements of our female graduates. We would like to welcome more women onto our programmes.
The school provides a flexible, supportive and welcoming learning environment in which to study and highlights the need to work in teams and develop excellent communication skills. There are many female academics who are involved in management, lecturing and research, and who also act as role models and personal tutors.
Included in our suite of undergraduate programmes are a number of streams which have been designed to appeal to everyone.
Our suite of engineering programmes offers a unique blend of established engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, electronics, electrical power and mechatronics, alongside more recent variants including telecommunications, computer and audio engineering.
Many of our degree programmes have common first year modules allowing students to change streams and specialisms as they progress through their studies. We welcome applications from mature candidates with relevant work experience and college students who may enter at an advanced level of the degree. Some part time study is also available.
