Programme Description

This Masters degree comprises an accelerated, intensive programme that can be undertaken in a year, or as a part-time two-year course. Students can progress from previous courses at Glasgow Caledonian University, or other universities, where their first degree could be in subjects ranging from Maths to History of Art. Our postgraduate programme concentrates on students' acquisition of surveying and related skills using authentic tasks as far as possible, all set within the appropriate theoretical framework. This approach is applied to the following ranges of Core and Elective Modules: Property Asset Management; Development and Project Economics; Property Valuation; Environmental Planning and Impact Assessment; International Construction Project Finance; International Real Estate Markets; Real Estate Developments; Urban Regeneration; Housing Policy and Provision. All Core Modules (two of which are double modules), a further two Elective Modules, and a Professional Project, must be passed for the award of a Masters in Real Estate Management.

Professional Accreditation

The MSc programme is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), allowing successful graduates to progress directly to the assessment of professional competence.

This allows us to ensure that graduates obtain precisely the skills and knowledge that employers want, leading to excellent career prospects at the end of the programme. On completion of this course graduates can expect to gain employment in the areas of Property Management and Development within the RICS Faculties of Valuation, Commercial, Residential, Planning and Development.
