Refurbishment, Regulations and Research, 30th May

A Round Up of What’s Current for Housing Associations is a free half day event on Wednesday 30 May 2012, 12pm to 4pm on campus.

The event is aimed specifically at Housing Associations and will cover health & safety updates regarding RIDDOR and asbestos for housing associations; condensation; interventions - risks of refurbishment using internal wall insulation; structural defects in Low Rise Buildings. Analysis of Renewable Energy Systems: RETScreen Software, 28th & 29th June

A two day training course on campus Thursday 28 and Friday 29 June 2012, presented by Dr Stas Burek.

RETScreen has been developed to help analyse renewable energy projects in the all-important stage of initial planning and feasibility assessment, including both the technical and financial aspects. This two day course will provide delegates with the knowledge and confidence to start using RETScreen to assess the feasibility of different renewable energy projects. RETScreen is a freely available software suite. The tutor is Dr Stas Burek, cost £350.00+VAT.

Legislation Affecting Bidding, 13th June

RETScreen course - 2 full days training

Renewable energy systems are complex to analyse because of the fluctuating nature of the energy resource. The aim of this course is to explore RETScreen, which is a freely-available software suite developed to help analyse renewable energy projects in the all-important stage of initial planning and feasibility assessment, including both the technical and financial aspects.

The objective is that delegates will leave with the knowledge and confidence to start using RETScreen to assess the feasibility of different renewable energy projects.

Twilight cpd seminar 16.00 to 18.00pm

Overview of the following pieces of legislation: The Bribery Act, The Competition Act, The Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act and, The Proceeds of Crime Act. How to avoid falling foul of the Acts, and some recent initiatives and activity under the acts.The objective is that delegates will leave with the knowledge and confidence to start using RETScreen to assess the feasibility of different renewable energy projects. This short CPD course aims to raise your awareness of the acts, grasp the impact they have on your bidding practices, and suggest possible actions you can take to mitigate the effects.
