The group creatively combines mathematical modelling and simulation, statistical analysis, embedded computing, computer systems engineering, and electronic system design with developments in sensor, security, and communications technologies. We have an “employment led” philosophy for our UG and PG programmes which is underpinned by our research and industrial links.
Areas of Excellence:
- FMC: GCU has entered into a 5 year Research Collaboration Agreement with FMC Technologies. The main aim of the collaboration is to develop integrated sensor solutions to provide efficient and safe oil recovery and to enhance the reliability and integrity monitoring of subsea installations.

Employability:
Placement for the network students is for one year after level 3.
All UG students are encouraged to undertake it with local companies; some go abroad via partner universities, and we have a number of international students undertaking their placement with us working alongside our research projects.
