A group of ex-Dough School students
On Tuesday 3 July the Centre hosted a coffee afternoon for 70 former ‘Dough’ School students and staff in the Hospitality Suite in the Hamish Wood Building to kick-start a research project on, The ‘Dough’ School in the 1950s and 1960s. Dr Vicky Long is the lead researcher, assisted by Rhona Blincow and they intend to conduct about a dozen oral history interviews in the next few months with some of the ladies who expressed an interest in taking part in the project.
Carol McCallum, the university archivist very kindly brought along various items from the Research Collections, which the ladies used to inspire memories of their time at the college. The project will culminate in an exhibition which will be held in the Saltire Centre at Glasgow Caledonian University next April.
The ladies in this photograph are posed together to recreate a shot taken at a ball in the 1950s (minus male escorts). One of the ladies revealed that they used to enjoy a Babycham and brandy cocktail before going to the ball!
