Rachel Meach, who is currently an Honours student at Strathclyde, found out last week that her application for a Masters studentship to the Wellcome Trust was successful. She intends to progress to doctoral study.
GCU's candidate for a Wellcome Trust studentship, Adam Donnelly, was also successful in gaining MSc funding, with hopes of progressing to doctoral study afterwards.
Thora Hands, who is currently completing the MSc in Health History in the CSHHH, found out last week that her applications for a PhD studentship to both the AHRC and the Wellcome Trust were successful. Given the very limited number of funded opportunities for doctoral study across the UK this is a significant achievement. She has decided to accept the Wellcome Trust offer. Her project has the title Reframing Drink and the Victorians: The Consumption of Alcohol in Britain 1869-1914. Matt Smith and Jim Mills at Strathclyde University will act as her supervisors.
To add to these successes, a GCU doctoral studentship has been awarded to Graham Lough for research on Medical Education: Changing Contexts, Changing Means? which will be supervised by Anna Jones with John Stewart as part of the supervisory team.
