Caledonian Creates represents a network of knowledge, experience and expertise drawn from across Glasgow Caledonian University which correlates closely with the DCMS classification of creative industries. The creative industry sector is recognised as being one of the major growth sectors in the UK, while also being dynamic and emergent. Creative industries are most effective when applied across other industry sectors and have great potential for wealth creation and long term economic development.

The holistic approach adopted by Caledonian Creates exhibits the strength of the university's input to the creative industries and also permits close liaison with other areas of activity.

Cross-discipline and multi-discipline activity and thinking are key to the successful implementation of creativity, and the Caledonian Creates network can offer relevant and effective services to external creative industry parties. This approach allows GCU to effectively blend its services of consultancy, research and teaching to suit existing and new opportunities across a wide range of industry and business sectors. Staff are involved in an extensive range of companies and organisations delivering well managed solutions to the client organisations benefiting both parties.
