Accounting, Finance & Risk

Welcome to the Department of Accounting, Finance and Risk

We are the largest Department of Accounting, Finance and Risk in the university sector in Scotland. We have strength-in-depth across a broad range of academic and professional areas including management accounting, external reporting, corporate governance, oil and gas accounting and finance, public sector accounting, finance, educational accounting, human asset accounting, professional accountancy training, financial services, pensions, and insurance to name but a few. In addition we have a long and successful track record of running training and consultancy projects at home and abroad.

Being part of a dynamic business school we are constantly reviewing our portfolio of programmes and our recently developed taught Masters suite of programmes are proving very popular. Demand for places on our PhD programmes is also high. The friendliness and team spirit of the staff is second to none. Along with their scholarly experience the staff has a depth and breadth of academic and professional qualifications. Our teaching is underpinned by mode 2 research, that is, research designed to solve real-world problems and serve the needs of the people of Scotland and beyond.
