S2/S3 Think Ahead ProjectThe “Think Ahead” project targets pupils at a key transition ahead of their S2/S3 option choices. Student mentors work with pupils in school and on campus to help them understand how their subject choices will impact on their future careers and aspirations. On campus pupils work in student mentor led teams on two challenges to get to know the courses and facilities the university has to offer. These challenges build on pupils’ knowledge and help them to make informed decisions about their subject choices. Furthermore, they enable pupils to further develop core skills such as communication, teamwork and time management skills.
With greater confidence in their own qualities, pupils are better equipped to make decisions about which optional subjects they want to go on to study at Standard Grade level and beyond.

The university has offered realistic, honest and practical help, which is exactly what our S2 pupils need as they prepare to make huge decisions about their future. They now have a clear idea about the subjects they will need to choose to pursue a course at university and eventually a career."Alison Robertson, Depute Head, Drumchapel High
My daughter really enjoyed taking part in the Think Ahead project and this has had a big impact on her future as well as her Standard Grade option choices. Before the project she didn’t know what subjects to choose or what she wanted to do after school, but since taking part she now wants to go to university to train to become a PE Teacher which is something she thought she wouldn’t be able to achieve. Working with the university staff and students got her thinking about all the options available to her, and helped her link these S2 subject choices with a future career."Elizabeth Steel, S2 Parent, Springburn Academy
