As pupils make the transition from S5 to S6, they participate in an induction challenge designed to build on core skills in line with the Curriculum for Excellence and get to know the University in a practical context. The pupils work in student mentor led teams and spend two days on campus experiencing student life first hand. The teams use expertise and resources in the University to create and deliver either a product or marketing campaign on a topical theme.
The Caledonian Club was such a confidence booster and made me feel that I was more able to do something completely different to what I was used to, like going to university will be."Pupil, Whitehill Secondary School
From an employer’s perspective, it’s those skills which the S6 induction project focuses on that we look for in potential recruits. The technical skills, to some extent, you can learn along the way, but teamwork, confidence and presenting are life skills essential to the world of work."Phil Duffied, Scottish Power
