Our visionThe vision for the Caledonian Club is unique. It proposes a linked set of activities for every pupil within our Club schools - sustained over a 20 to 30 year period. We want to create true social change in the communities served by Glasgow Caledonian University, and are proud to have received: local recognition from the Herald Society Awards; national recognition from Times Higher Education Awards; and an honourable mention from the Association of Commonwealth Universities Awards.
Recognising the vital role family and community play in a child’s attitudes, we work with children as young as three, their teachers, parents and even grandparents.
School, home and friends all influence post-school aspirations, and we will follow these pupils through to primary and secondary schools and on through their journey into education, employment and training.
We also deliver activities that enhance the school curriculum and measure the impact of our work.
The Caledonian Club is a stunning example of how to breathe new life into the very idea of what we mean by lifelong learning."Judging Panel, The Times Higher Education Awards
We currently work with five partner secondary schools in Glasgow and some of their associated primary and nursery schools. Our activities are delivered by Caledonian Club staff, supported by a team of student mentors, with input from a wide variety of staff across the university.
