Building collaborative relationships 

We support the model of the 'connected university' as described by NESTA, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts. This means that we are committed to building links with the local community while fostering national and international connections.

We work with third sector organisations such as Street League and Spruce Carpets to drive business innovation through support and funding mechanisms such as our Enterprise Fund and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs).

Glasgow Caledonian University's Social Enterprise MSc programme is the only postgraduate degree in Scotland designed specifically for the growing Social Enterprise sector. It was developed through the collaboration of Glasgow Caledonian University and the Scottish Social Enterprise Academy to provide organisations with techniques to aid them in demonstrate greater entrepreneurial flair, innovation and self-reliance. 

The Caledonian Club is an award-winning initiative which works with young people from some of Glasgow’s most disadvantaged areas to encourage higher educational aspirations.

Glasgow Caledonian University recently appointed one of the world’s foremost health economists to lead new Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health. Professor Cam Donaldson is leading a unique research programme evaluating the impact of social business creation on the lives and health of disadvantaged communities in Glasgow and overseas. The new centre is named after Nobel Prize winner Grameen Bank founder Professor Muhammad Yunus, in recognition of the Grameen Caledonian Partnership.

While developing collaborative research practices, we aim to use our findings and expertise to create practical solutions for our partners, clients and the community. 

The Applied Knowledge Exchange case studies demonstrate successfully implemented solutions for many national and international organisations.
