SSE develops managers’ skills with GCU business management programme
Energy company SSE is working with Glasgow Caledonian University to effectively develop the professional skills of its managers through a bespoke top up BA in Business Management by Learning Contract.
SSE is involved in the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity, in the production, storage, distribution and supply of gas and in other energy services. The organisation aims to provide energy in a reliable and sustainable way, supported by the adoption of responsible practices including training and development of its employees.
Developed with GCU as a work-based qualification for SSE’s Customer Service, Energy Sales and Marketing staff, the Business and Customer Management programme aims to introduce greater understanding of customer and business thinking for a more robust approach to real business and customer practices, resulting in improved managerial performance, efficiency, operating approach, execution and overall professional standards.
SSE’s managers are enrolled on the Diploma in Business and Customer Management, and those with further potential have the option to pursue the Degree-level BA qualification.
Developed and delivered in partnership with experts in Work-Based Learning and strategic business management from Glasgow School for Business and Society at Glasgow Caledonian University, the programme forms part of SSE’s Management Development Framework.
