Video Production
We offer a high quality programme production service to staff and
students. Documentaries, promotional videos and teaching packages
are some of the many types of video we produce each year, at
little or no cost to departments.
We have broadcast quality camera and editing equipment and a team
of technicians to produce high quality programmes with proper
lighting, sound recording and graphics. It may be you want to
record a complex experiment that's difficult to reproduce, or
interview an expert in their field for use as a lecture insert,
or a promotional programme for your department. How about a specialist
educational programme your department could use for teaching,
or sell to other institutions, or put in the library for students
to access!
We only charge for the DVD copies that we give you. Some programmes
need the use of a professional actor to produce a good quality
voice over. This costs £150.
We have a short demo tape showing some programmes we have recently
made, if you would like a DVD copy please let us know and one
will be sent via internal mail.
Video Editing
AVS has open access video editing facilities for use by students and staff. This allows editing of suitable pre recorded material.
Possible uses would be:
- editing programmes used for teaching, to save looking for specific sections
during lectures
- editing adverts out of programmes used for teaching
- students presentations or projects
There is no charge for this service, although blank DVDs or tapes have
to be purchased. It can be booked by telephoning the Information Service Desk
on
extension 1234, or by e-mailing isd@gcal.ac.uk. We operate on a first come first served basis with no minimum
notice
period. The facilities are
easy
to use after some basic instruction, however, our technicians
will be available to help.
We have three camcorders available for loan to staff or students.
