This Centenary album was created to mark the Centenary of the STUC. "It stands out amongst the range of Centenary projects, publications and events because it brings together artists and recordings of the highest quality and it cements the already close relationship between trade unionism and traditional music in general, and between Scottish singers and musicians and the STUC in particular.
In every country in the world, where working people come together, they organise trade unions to defend and improve their working conditions. In every country in the world, these same working people sing and make music about their victories and defeats, their joys and sorrows, laughter and tears. " (Campbell Christie, from cassette cover)
