The Association of
Directors of Social Work
The Association of Directors of Social Work is a constituted
group of senior Social Workers who work in Scottish local
government. They have come together to promote social welfare and
social inclusion and the interests of those who use their services.
They
have established internal networks, on which all local authority
Social Work Departments are represented, to disseminate research,
information and best practice, discuss policy and thereon
communicate their views. They also seek to enter into dialogue with
their
partners and provide opportunities for consultation and conference,
to discuss joint concerns whilst promoting and exploring the
benefits of partnership and integrated working.

those problems, primarily arising from the sharp drop in the number
of available foster mothers, the closure of some homes and the
increase in the number of illegitimate births. This Archive,
9.5 metres in size, documents the story and work of this
organisation, the Scottish Council for the Unmarried Mother and her
Child.

The University of Liverpool holds a number of collections relating to Social Work, and in particular those of child-related voluntary organisations - although it also includes the records of community projects and organisations working with the homeless.
