Student Support & Scholarships

Gifts to the Annual Fund allow us to provide immediate support to students throughout the university where the need is greatest.

Scholarships

Success at university goes beyond having the intellectual capacity to do well. It’s about being given opportunities to overcome the social, cultural and financial obstacles that can and do deter so many from even applying. This could not be truer in the present climate where many prospective students, who would otherwise flourish at Glasgow Caledonian University, are deterred by the prospect of debt or supporting a family while they study.

We cannot eliminate all financial pressures, but through the Annual Fund £1,000 a year scholarships are available for students to relieve some of the pressure and help realise their potential.

“The cost of a course of study is too often a reason for missed opportunity. Affordability of education should not set a limit to the achievements of anyone. By supporting Glasgow Caledonian University with its scholarships you can help many more talented young people achieve their true potential.”

Dr Gordon Masterton, Vice President of the Environment Business unit at Jacobs Babtie, generously supports scholarships at GCU in Civil Engineering.

Moffat Scholar Caroline Black, BSc Travel and International Travel Management 2006, said: “The scholarship was a real motivator to achieve high grades. I was able to concentrate on my studies without the distraction of a part-time job.”

Caroline now works as a Travel Consultant for tailor-made holiday specialist, Travel 2.
