Give as you earn
Glasgow Caledonian University has signed up to the Charities Aid Foundation Give As You Earn scheme which provides employees of GCU with an easy and tax efficient way to give to charities.
Through this scheme any donation you make to a charity is deducted from your pay before tax, making it easier for you to ensure that the charity you support benefits from Government tax relief.
So for example, a donation of £15 to the charity of your choice will be deducted from your salary and go directly to them with no administration costs, and the cost to you in your salary will be £12 (assuming you are a 20% taxpayer, see table below for other examples):
| Your Donation | Amount deducted from your salary |
Amount charity receives |
|
| 20% taxpayer | £15 | £12 | £15 |
| 40% taxpayer | £15 | £9 | £15 |
| 50% taxpayer | £15 | £7.50 | £15 |

You can also donate to the University's Brighter Futures Fund via Give as You Earn. This fund supports student clubs and societies as well as GCU's widening access Caledonian Club.
